What to consider when choosing
For a Doberman of 32–45 kg we recommend size 2XL — inner space 85×70 cm. Measure the space between the bolsters: a Doberman is long and sleeps stretched out on its side at full length. A smaller female of 32–35 kg fits the XL (space 75×55 cm); a male doesn't.
The most common Doberman mistake is sizing "by weight" instead of length: a Doberman is lighter than a shepherd but no shorter. Measure the dog lying down, nose to hind paws, and add 10–15 cm — at the workshop we see it come out to exactly 2XL.
A Doberman has almost no undercoat and gets cold on a bare floor — the mattress insulates from the cold, and we raised the bolsters on the large sizes so the dog can rest its head and sleep warmer. A Doberman without a bed heads for the sofa — not out of mischief, but out of cold.
The fabrics are upholstery-grade, like mid-range sofas: a Doberman's short stiff hair doesn't spear into the pile, claws leave no snags, colour survives the washes. The first thing to wear out is the cover — dogs dig at it. It's removable on a YKK zipper, with spares available separately.
