Dog beds for Alaskan malamutes

Alaskan malamute weighs 34–42 kgsize2XL

Inner space 85×70 cm — the malamute picks the cool spot, and its weight needs a base that will not sag

2XL 120×100 cm (inner 85×70) is the malamute's main size. 3XL 145×115 cm (inner 110×85) if the dog is over 42 kg or sleeps at full stretch. XL suits only a smaller female under 35 kg that curls up.

What to consider when choosing

For a malamute of 34–42 kg we recommend 2XL — an 85×70 cm inner space. The breed sleeps both curled and sprawled, so the bed has to cover both. Under a dog this heavy a thin bed sags within a month: filler density decides, not the outer footprint.

A malamute's undercoat comes out in avalanches twice a year. Oxford and rogozhka clean up most easily: the hair sits on top and brushes off. Velour is the wrong choice here — too warm, and it traps undercoat. The cover unzips on a YKK zip, and a spare can be ordered separately.

FAQ

What size bed does a malamute need?

For an adult of 34–42 kg we recommend 2XL: 120×100 cm outer, 85×70 cm inner. The largest dogs will want 3XL (145×115).

My malamute finds beds too warm — what should I choose?

Oxford or rogozhka without heavy insulation: these fabrics breathe. A malamute often sleeps half-off the bed on the cool floor, and that is normal.
